The Queen been asked to apologize for slavery.

As I previously mentioned the Queen is visiting the US for the first time in 16 years,

There have already been calls for her to apologize for the introduction of slavery and slaughter of American Indians.

Why is it that some people always seem to want to have modern leaders take responsibility for actions or events in history that are particularly distasteful.  I think this is a waste of energy.  History is full of grievous acts that have shaped our future, and made our countries and civilizations what they are today.  Appeasing our modern consciences by having our leaders apologize to us does not alter the fact that these events have occurred.

Comcast, FSC and Premiership Soccer

So for those of you who don’t know – and haven;t determined through the blog title, I am British.  I am also an avid soccer fan.  Ahem, actually lets call that football – it is played with our feet.

So when I moved here i missed the English Premier League – which is generally considered the best league in the world – especially at my house.  This time a couple of years ago my wife upgraded our TV lineup to include the Fox Soccer Channel.  And what a welcome addition this was.  I got to watch some great matches with at least a top 5 team every weekend.

San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District sucks

So today the Valley Air board members voted on an air staff proposal to postpone the central valleys attainment of clean air by 11 years. My lovely wife and I thought this to be a terrible idea, and so we rallied some family and friends to go to the public hearing and voice our concern. The overwhelming majority of citizen speakers expressed severe dissapointment at the lack of options the Valley Air staff have been instructed to offer the Air Board to vote on.
