Valley Air Board set for reform? (SB 719 Passes Assembly)

In a vote yesterday the state assembly passed Senate Bill 719 that called for board reform for the Valley Air district.

I have written before about this piece of legislature, and was hopeful that *this* time the bill may indeed pass both the Senate and Assembly, and be presented to Governor Schwarzenegger to be signed.

It is great news for the valley, as the board DOES NEED REFORM. I am not saying this because I have disagreed with them in the past. I say this because I believe they needed to be given the tools to be able to be successfully support both the central valley economy AND the health issues we face due to the valley’s air quality.

A royal pain in the grass

So I have spent the day manicuring my lawn and fighting the ever increasing problem of Crabgrass I have in my lawn. It seems no matter how much I dig it up and spray pre-emergent herbicide, the more it grows. I am definitely losing the battle.

I have been googling for solutions and came across this “Confession of a Grass Murderer”. I thought I would share it with you. I have to admit, I feel I am guilty of the same crime at times. Though trust me it is not for the lack of trying.

I’m with Fred (on Federalism at least)

Fred Dalton Thompson has yet to announce his entry into the 2008 presidential race, but he has already had some success “online”… apparantly. I had never come across his website until today, when I read about it in a news article.

I was curious as to what my favorite Law and Order District Attorney had done on the web, and so I checked it out. I have to say its a nice site.

British troops finishing up in Iraq

So it looks like British troops have handed almost all of their Southern Iraqi mandate over to Iraqi control. I was reading this and was shocked that the Brits have obviously managed to do something that the US military hasn’t.

We are all focused on the Northern region, and the Sunni Triangle, that we have forgotten about the successes of the Southern Region.
