Comcast, Where is Setanta Sports?

The new Premier League (known in the US as the EPL) kicks of this coming weekend, and I am still bummed out that Comcast is still not offering Setanta Sports as an option package.

I wrote previously about my disappointment with Fox Soccer Channels EPL lineup last season. They basically sold half their rights to Setanta in order to secure the rights to MLS games. I was hoping that Comcast would announce that they were going to partner with Setanta and offer this channel before the season began. But it seems it is not to be. Comcast are really forgetting about their soccer watching audience. Dish Network and DirectTV both offer Setanta Sports already.

One of the cool things about setanta is that they also show the 6 nations rugby championship, as well as the rugby world cup. I have missed my rugby immensely since moving here, and would love to introduce my lovely wife to the gentlemen’s game. Come on Comcast, you gotta get going on this… Or maybe its time to switch to satellite?

I have a feeling my first purchase may be the Wii Harry Potter game (casting spells with the wiimote sounds to geeky to miss!), but other than that and a couple of sports games that I know I will purchase (Tiger Woods, Fifa, Madden) I am hearing of no real amazing titles coming in the future. I mean, where is the killer software title? Playstation had GTA, Xbox had Halo, and the new gen of Sony and Microsoft consoles have their own killer titles. Is Wii Sports it tho? Really? Come on Nintendo, you must realize that with the enourmous success you are having on the hardware sales side of things, you must come up with something special – oh and don’t count on everyone jumping onboard with buying a mario game. Alot of this new “non-gaming” crowd will not want to go there…
